Naíonra -What is it?

The Naíonra is a preschool service delivered through the medium of the Irish language, under the guidance of highly trained, experienced, caring Stiúrthóirí (preschool educators). Irish is the language of the Naíonra and the children acquire it naturally and effortlessly, in the same manner that they acquired the first language at home, through the immersion system of language learning.

The Naíonra’s broad, comprehensive, flexible programme draws its inspiriation from the seasons, cultural festival/feast days, and nature. Amongst the numerous activities that the children engage in daily - are music, songs/rhymes, storytelling/puppets, dancing/drama, art/craft, physical games, sand & water play etc. As well as nurturing and supporting the child’s overall development, these fun activities also serve to develop pre-writing, pre-reading, pre-mathematical skills.

Every Naíonra has its own arrangement in relation to opening hours, and some Naíonraí also offer additional services such as After-School Care, Day Care, and Summer Camps during July which offer an opportunity to children without Irish to acquire a little spoken Irish, naturally, and in a relaxed, fun environment.

Naíonra-Cad é?

’Séard atá i gceist le Naíonra ná Seirbhís Luathoideachas trí mheán na Gaeilge agus mhódh an tSúgartha, faoi chúram Stiúrthóirí oilte, le haghaidh páistí d’aoisgrúpa réamhscoile. Is é an Gaeilge gnáth teanga an Naíonra agus sealbhaíonn na páistí an Ghaeilge go nádúrtha, mar a sealbhaíonn siad an chéad teanga sa bhaile, trí mhódh an tumoideachas.

Tá Clár leathan solúbtha an Naíonra bunaithe ar na Séasúir, na Féiltí agus an Dúlra. I measc na gníomhaíochtaí a bhíonn ar siúl go laethúi - bíonn Ceol, Amhránaíocht, Scéalaíocht, Rinnce, Ealaíon, Obair Láimhe, súgradh le Gaineamh agus Uisce.  Tacaíonn na gníomhaíochtaí spraoiúil seo le forbairt iomlán an páiste agus cuireann siad lena scileanna réamhléitheoireacht agus réamhmaitimice

Bíonn a socrú féin ag gach Naíonra maidir lena laethanta agus uaireanta oscailte. Cuireann roinnt Naíonraí seirbhísí eile ar fháil freisin m.sh Cúram Iar-Scoile, Cúram Lae agus Campaí Spraoi i rith mí Iúil. Tugann Campaí Spraoi deis do Pháistí gan Gaeilge – bheith i dtimpellacht Gaeilge labhartha é agus roinnt Gaeilge a shealbhú go nádúrtha, ar bhealach thaitneamhach.
